REDD VOLKAERT: FRETBOARD JOURNAL

I recently went to Austin with writer Nate “Riverhorse” Nakadate to photograph legendary blues Telecaster master Redd Volkaert. Redd invited us into his home, served us cornbread and beans, and displayed his collection of guitars, including some 50’s era Telecasters, acquired in the most unique of ways.

Only in Texas can you step into someone kitchen and see a Grammy statue on the counter next to a plate of cornbread. It was a great trip to Austin, and an honor to meet Redd. Here’s a link to Freboard Journal – the full article is on newsstands now.

UPDATE 3/20/12

Still in production on a feature film… this is my first day off in 2 weeks. I appreciate your patience. A few more days of shooting and I’m back to my regular schedule.

Filming is going great, and we’ve covered an amazing amount of the script. John Lansch has put in an outstanding performance and was pictured wrapped last night.

Through the magic of FX makeup, John was aged 15 years for this production, undergoing 2 hours of daily makeup, plus camera test to make sure the makeup matched day to day. All in all it was a 3 hour process before he was camera ready. I’ll be posting some behind the scenes of the process soon! Big thanks to John for his participation in this film!

FILM PRODUCTION UPDATE

Just  a quick update – I’m in production shooting another feature film. If you need to contact me, I’ll get back with you as soon as possible – bear in mind my schedule is extremely tight at the moment. I should wrap up this film mid week.

Best,
Kerry
